Do you think about travelling with your pet? If so, you are reading the right article. Travelling has been one of the best things that an individual can do to unwind, explore places, connect to new people and learn about the history and tradition of one place. How about we enhance this experience in a cute and fun way? That is why we will talk about travelling with a pet.
Most of us own a pet, it could be a dog, cat, reptiles, fish, etc… Commonly dogs and cats, are part of our family, and we have the responsibility to take care of them as much as possible. Taking care of our pets does not limit to feeding and giving them a warm comfortable bath. We are also responsible for making sure that we provide them shelter and a welcoming environment. These pets have feelings, they can feel what humans are feeling as well. That is why it is important that before we get one, we should be prepared for the responsibilities that come from taking care of an animal because their lives matter. If you don’t have one yet, don’t be afraid of getting a pet. They can make our lives better by just being a companion we can rely on most of the time.
Did you know that aside from providing our pets with the best home and care, we can also give them the chance to wander different places or countries? you heard it right, we can. Pets are now allowed to travel with us. There is no need for us to worry about leaving them at home for our vacation, there is no need for us to miss them, most importantly there is no need for us to be scared if they will be taken care of in times that we take a vacation. In the UK, there are Airline carriers that allow pets to travel with their Furmom and Furdad. According to FetchAPet, below are some of the pet-friendly Airlines in the UK:
- British Airways
- Air New Zealand
- South African Airways
- Air Canada
- TUI Group
- Thai Airways
- Singapore Airlines
- Kenya Airways
- Royal Brunei Airlines
- American Airlines
The Airlines that allow pets with us in the Cabin are the following: KLM, Lufthansa, and TUI. However, our pets should not exceed the weight of 8kg. For larger size pets, owners will be assisted by the aircraft crew and FetchAPet if we wish to have them assisting us. For those who will be in the cabin with their owners, our pets should be placed in a small soft bag that can go underneath the owner and should remain in the bag for the duration of the flight. On the other hand, larger pets will go to the cargo hold safe for livestock. Pets will be safely strapped in a kennel that is the size of a first-class sleeper, it is pressurized and air-conditioned just like human passengers and the lights are dimmed to near dark, this is an effort that Airlines are doing to lessen the amount of stress our pets will experience during the flight.
It is also important to remember that our pets should not be fed at least 6 hours before the flight. Although this is somewhat harsh especially to us, owners, but the purpose of this is to lessen the risk of having them experience bloat, vomiting, and pooping within their cargo hold. If we wish to arrange something for our pets, we must contact the Airlines first to know more about the regulations that must be followed.
Just like us, we always make sure that we are prepared and comfortable during the flight. We often need items that can help us achieve the level of comfort that we desire when travelling.
